Hi, this is Mike Stoll. As a 40+ year career entrepreneur who has successfully bootstrapped multiple businesses, I understand the challenges many small businesses face, especially during disasters or disruptions.


The focus is always on building sales, serving existing customers, and making payroll. There is seldom time or money to prepare for something that may never happen.


However, as Benjamin Franklin wisely said, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”


I have experienced, firsthand, the consequences of not being prepared.

I lost a business that grew to #1 in its field because of  not understanding how to adapt to the new technology shift in the early 1990s.


I lost another national award winning business in a different field as a result of the tragedy of 9/11 in 2001. We had no plan in place for a devasted transportation industry.


If only I knew then what I know now about the consequences of not being prepared for, in my case, a technology disruption, and a national disaster.

I urge you to consider future-proofing your business and using resilience to your advantage to be a winner in the marketplace.

After almost 15 years in business my number one, market-leading service business failed due to our inability to understand how quickly a technology shift can occur and how to adapt to it back in the early 1990s.


I also experienced the failure of my "National Award" winning hospitality business, after 14 years of success , as a result of the World Trade Center tragedy of 9/11 in 2001. It more than took five years, but my business could no longer endure and eventually failed. We had no plan in place, no thought even that it could happen, but the transportation industry unexpectedly shut down and people were afraid to travel causing permanent workplace changes throughout our industry.
